Public Speaking

As a public/keynote speaker I consider it my job to motivate and entertain audiences with a mixture of sage advice and self-deprecating humour (because what’s life without laughs?)

Diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF) at the age of 6 weeks, I speak to audiences from all walks of life about growing up with a medically dictated sell-by date and the powerful effect of refusing to become a statistic.

With around 10,000 sufferers in the UK, CF is one of the most common life-threatening genetic illnesses. At 37 years old, I’m actually considered a ‘granny’ in a community where the average life expectancy is around 40, and I credit my survival and continued good health to equal parts luck and attitude. My talks, based around my book Step back, move forward, cover my struggles with CF and give practical advice about how anybody can change their life by changing their perspective.

My six step WISDOM system is a guidebook for anyone facing challenges in their personal, professional or sporting life and, while I can’t mend a physical injury, I can certainly put you on the right track when it comes to using your mind to overcome whatever is the matter!

I can adjust my talks to the duration and audience required. Although I can tailor these talks to your needs, established talks cover the following subjects:

“My life and what that has to do with you” (can be as long or short as required)

“Six steps to WISDOM: how to face a challenge head on”

“Just breathe” a talk/guide/training session on using breathing techniques to relax (this can be tailored to people wanting to learn presentation skills)

“Imagine that” an interactive session that uses visualisation in a practical and purposeful way (without the woo-woo!)

“If she can do it…” a talk about how I’ve improved my health through pole fitness! (it’s not rude, but it is funny)

Speaking gigs are priced on an individual basis, but I endeavour to create an offering to fit your budget.

Compere and Emcee work

If you’re staging an event, be it a business conference, a wedding, or anything in between, you need a host with a clear, confident speaking style.

I am not a registered Toastmaster (although I can make recommendations if that’s what you need), but I do bring a friendly yet authoritative energy to events.

My work as a compere is totally tailored to meet your needs but I work on a £400 day rate (plus expenses) with a minimum £100 booking.
